What
are your favorite places, that should be included in RTW trip?
What would you recommend if we like white sand, sea, snorkeling
and also some cultural experiencies. Also low budget would be
appreciated.
Thanks for your help! |

Fiji
for snorkeling and cultural experiences; Whitsunday Islands in
Australia for the most beautiful white sand I have ever seen (Whitehaven
beach in particular). Rarotonga was also beautiful.
Interested in places other than beaches? Tibet has so much to
offer culturally, as do Vietnam and Cambodia in SE Asia. |

there
is good sun sea sand a snorkelling in honduras, central america -
is as low budget as the carribean gets and Utila is a very cheap
place to do a dive course (although it is actually cheaper to do a
dive course in Oz thanks to the great exchange rate) On Utila (Off
the carribean coast of Honduras) you can do your PADI open water
for about US$150, stay in a not too shabby hostel for $7 and eat a
big plate of lobster for $5.
Central America is not as cheap as many places in Asia but is
still do-able on a small budget. There are a lot of great mayan
ruins to go and see and in guatemala you can still see people livi
ng a traditional life - also a great opportunity to learn spanish
on the cheap. |

Cheap
as it may sound on Utila #2/pambing, I paid USD 220 in for PADI
Open Water plus Advanced Open Water (12 dives incl. 2 nightdives
with Oceano) in Taganga (diving in Parque Tairona) near Santa
Marta, Colombia. Paid USD 2 per night for a room with private bath
in one of the three Gringo hotels there, just 100-200 meters from
the beach. It's about 5 hours busdrive east of Cartagena.

Most
of Southeast Asia fits the bill. Simply stunning beaches on some
of the islands off Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, plus loads
of historic and cultural things to see in those places and
surrounding countries such as Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
Same sort of deal in Central America, where you can find both
great beaches and Mayan ruins. South India also has some nice
beaches and cheap prices, if you're into temples crawling with
hundreds of gods and demi-gods.
In all these places, a couple can live pretty well on $15-$25 per
day, including a private room with bath, three restaurant meals,
and local transportation.

Ethiopia
is my favourite place. Great for cultural experiences.
However, as it's a landlocked country the beaches aren't too
great. For beaches try Ghana, or Zanzibar.
The Red Sea (Egypt, Jordan) has some good diving, but it can't
beat the Great Barrier Reef.
Another good snorkelling spot is the island of Bali (avoid Kuta). |

Thailand
(avoid the major resorts), Mexico (avoid the major resorts), maybe
northeast Brazil (beaches and culture, not sure about snorkeling),
Zanzibar |
