Vaccination's
I did a lot of calling around before I started my trip, so I will include all the info I gathered. Ultimately I decided that even after the $100US bus ticket up there, Canada was the cheaper option (up to 1/4 the price of US clinics!!). However, that's only if you are need the vaccinations before you leave. If you're traveling the western countries first, just relax, and get these vaccination along the way. For example, I got most of my initial shots in Canada, and then more as I traveled. I got my Yellow Fever shot (US$10), and Malaria medication (US$3/per 30) in Poland. Even in Canada, that's a US$90 savings for just those 2 things. Imagine the savings of an entire regiment of vaccinations and medications!
For an idea of Canadian prices, here are the prices of La Clinique du Voyageur (1374 Mont Royal est, Montreal):
Visit Fee - $50CA
Hepatitis A - $45CA x 2 shots over 6 months
Hepatitis B - $50CA x 3 shots over 6 months
Polio - Free! (ain't nothin' cheaper than free!!)
Rabies - $130CA x 3 shots over 1 month
Typhoid - $40CA
Yellow Fever - $85CA
Meninogococcal Meningitis - $135CA
Cipro Prescription - $? (I already had plenty left over from last trip)
Malaria Prescription - $0.40CA ea
So
that's a total (if you had to get all the shots) of $750US (I
spent $215US including a malaria prescription for 2 months!)
The total (if you had to get all the shots) in the US would be $1200US
These are the other clinics I found within 1 day of Boston. I didn't bother asking prices of everything after I realized the Rabies shot price says a lot about a clinics prices. I stopped calling NYC clinics shortly after discovering the extreme savings of going to Montreal.
