Montreux, Switzerland
May 14, 2004

Called the Swiss Riviera for good reason, this lakeside town is in a wealthy resort area that attracts the well-to-do with it's fashionable shops, and huge old hotels. The only site a budget traveler such as myself can afford is a view (too expensive to actually go in...) of there famous castle on the lake.

This was the end of the Golden Pass line, so I wandered up and down the waterfront for a few hours before catching my train to Germany.

This is the last bit of the Golden Pass ride from Interlaken to Montreux

Montreux is an old resort town, so the hotels are from the first half of the 20th century.  Very classic in feel.

I'd say the flowers were the most memorable thing about Monteux's atmosphere.
They were everywhere, and very well taken care of.

The castle was nice looking, but not worth the entrance fee to get in for me.
