Salamanca, Espana

This prestigious university town has all the old and new to please both tourist and local. Its university is sort of like the Yale of Spanish universities. I could only stay here 1 night, but spent most of 2 days exploring the university, and town. It has a very famous cathedral with an even more famous frog... You see, the cathedral is partly famous for its intricate carvings inside and outside. There are no repeating patterns, and each carving or statue is unique. On the detailed exterior face you can see hundreds of animals, saints, and nature scenes. One particular animal had received a lot of attention for some reason, and whenever tourists come to Salamanca, they feel the need to find this animal. It is the only frog anywhere in the church, and has since become the mascot for the town. If you're looking, here's a hint that took me 2 hours of looking... it's on someone's head. |
Look at this! Do you see an astronaut? Good. You should.
It was put here during a restoration of the cathedral.
