Riga, Latvia
June 14, 2004 - June 16, 2004
After 1 month in Poland I was out of time for the
Baltic's, so I only made it to Riga, the capital,
but my camera got stolen in Russia, so all the pictures from Riga have been lost anyway. =(
Riga was a cool town that had old and new. The old town was rambling and
of decent
size, while the new town was huge. It went on a long way in 2
directions. A lot of it was soviet
style apartment blocks, but they had their own character, unlike the ones in
Russia which
all look the same.
I went to the opera here, but can't recommend it, as it seemed
amateur compared to other operas.
The hostel I stayed in was the Old Town Hostel right on the edge of old town
near the train and
bus station. It was convenient, but on the dirty side.
Wish I had pictures, because the old town was nicer than
Vilnius.
